I wanted to welcome everyone back for the new semester. Also, I want to urge any undergraduates interested in molecular biology or microbiology to join our organization and come to our meetings. We are here to help anyone that is interested and if we can’t we can most certainly point you in the right direction.

I will keep you guys posted as to when we will have our next meeting.

Welcome Back Celebration

I wanted to thank everyone that came down today for the Welcome Back Celebration hosted by ACBS. Although the turnout was a little less than expected I must say that it was a good event. We had tons of food and a pretty nice day.

I encourage all you first year grad students and any undergraduate students interested in going to graduate school to participate in ACBS events. There’s free food, fun and good company … what more could you ask for?

I will keep you guys posted as new events come up.

I am currently in the process of updating the website and need some help from all of you. If you are a graduate student and see that you are not listed on the website please let me know so that I can add you to the proper research lab. Also, if you have any pictures or a short statement about what you do please e-mail it to me so that you don’t have a blank page.

I have set up a page for us on FLICKR, a photo sharing site. If any of you have lab photos, or photos of yourself and your lab at meetings and want them on the website, please send them to me. I will create a “set” for your lab.

I think this is a good way to share pictures of events that we have!

If anyone has suggestions or ideas on how to improve this or the website in general, feel free to contact me.

We need volunteers for the Superbowl! We can earn money for our organization and be at the superbowl at the same time!

Volunteer – Petsmart Charities

As was discussed during out meeting, we are getting involved in some volunteering opportunities. One of the causes is to recycle old cell phones and ink cartridges to Petsmart. I know many of you have old cell phones laying around the house, bring them in and help us recycle them instead of dumping them in the garbage. Let’s make a difference.

The bags for these items will be placed in BSF120.
